Let It Go, Run Your Race

Preached by: Pastor Vaughn | 12/14/25

Scripture/Text: Hebrews 12:1-2; Many Christians are trying to follow Jesus while carrying far more weight than God ever asked them to bear.

Worry, shame, regret, hidden sin, people-pleasing, expectations, disappointment, and the pressure to perform can feel like dragging a suitcase everywhere you go.

But Hebrews 12:1-2 gives us a better way.

In this sermon, we walk through one of the most powerful images in Scripture: the Christian life as a long-distance race marked out by God Himself. We explore what it means to:

• Lay aside every weight
• Confront the sin that clings so closely
• Run with endurance
• Fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith

You will discover how Jesus has already carried the heaviest burden at the cross, how the “cloud of witnesses” cheers you on, and how God calls you to run lighter, freer, and with renewed focus.

If you've been feeling tired, stuck, weighed down, or spiritually distracted, this message will encourage you to put something down today and look again to Christ.
