GROW, THRIVE & SERVE

New To First Baptist Bolingbrook?

We'd love to answer any questions you might have about our church, our community, and what we believe. Please let us know if we can serve you in any way.

Who We Are

We are God-Centered, Christ-Exalting, Gospel-Preaching, Bible-Saturated and Discipleship-Producing

There are a lot of ways to plug in at FBC Bolingbrook, but a good place to start is our Sunday Worship Service, which starts at 11:00 am. We'd love to have you join us this Sunday as we worship the Lord, celebrate the Gospel, and study God's Word together.

Vaughn Sanders

Leading Teaching Pastor / Elder

I'm a native of St. Louis and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies. I also have a Master's in Information Systems Management specializing in Information Security. By trade I'm a Cyber Security Professional but have sensed the call to ministry from the time I professed my faith in Christ and was baptized in high school.

I have been a member of First Baptist Bolingbrook since 2011 and served as Deacon before being called to the office of Elder in 2015 and then Lead Teaching Pastor in 2018. I am grateful to have found my passion and purpose in preaching and teaching God's Word. My wife Libby and I were married in 2000 while we were students at Mizzou. Together we have two children, Jonah and Jamiah. We enjoy our trips together as a family trying various food and restaurants. In my spare time you'll find me trying to perfect my own technique on my grill and smoker at home.

Our Purpose

Our Purpose

We exist to GROW, THRIVE, & SERVE. We (individually and corporately) were created by God to live for his glory. We believe we do this best by keeping the Gospel ever-before our eyes, connecting every gathering and ministry to the "good news" of salvation that Christ has accomplished for his people by his life, death, and resurrection.

We take seriously his command to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. As a church we strive to make fully devoted disciples of Jesus who believe the Gospel, belong to God, and are becoming like Jesus. We do this by living out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Childrens Ministry

Children's Ministry

We have a variety of ministries and activities for kids, including things like musical productions, fun gatherings, and Vacation Bible Schools.

Here are a few examples:

The Gospel Project for Kids: This is a great study that takes our children through the entire Bible, connecting each story to what Christ has done for our salvation. It's filled with all kinds of fun activities, videos, and learning exercises. We have classes for all ages that meet during our Sunday School hour, every Sunday at 9:45 am. And parents, don't worry we have classes available for you too!

Children's Church: Every Sunday our children join us for the singing portion of our 11:00 am morning worship service. Once the preaching starts, we dismiss the children to Children's church where they are treated to a Bible Study that's designed with their ages in mind. This is completely optional, so parents if you would rather have your children in with you for service we welcome that. Just know that the children's church service is there if they ever want to attend it.

Youth Ministry

We have a wonderful Youth Group here at First Baptist! Youth from 6th grade to 12th grade are invited.

The Youth Group meets weekly on Sundays at 6:30 pm in the Youth Area. Each meeting includes games in the game room, fun activities, socializing, entertainment, and most importantly time learning and discussing God's Word. We hope you can join us this week. In addition to the weekly gathering, the Youth Group does various service and missions projects, trips and lock-ins, and much, much more. If you have questions, contact the church and we will fill you in on what is on the horizon.

Seasoned Adult Ministry (S.A.M)

Here at First Baptist Church we have a wonderful Seasoned Adults Ministry because we have wonderful senior adults.

Our seniors have access to all the adult ministries of the church and a few ministries that are just for them. In addition to periodic recreation outings and ministry projects, they also come together for a monthly S.A.M. ("Seasoned Adults Ministry") gathering.

At S.A.M. we share lunch, encouragement, Bible Study, reflection, and all-around great fellowship. Frequently there are guest speakers who keep us updated on various ministries and community resources available to seniors. It truly is an uplifting and beneficial time for all involved, so mark your calendars and join the fun. The S.A.M. gathering takes place at the church on the first Wednesday of every month.

Missions

When the Lord commanded his disciples to "make disciples," he meant it. Part of that command involves "going" and so we strive to be a going church with the goal to SERVE Bolingbrook and the greater community.

In addition to local mission work, hunger ministry, and supporting missionaries and mission organizations financially, we also take teams to be missionaries in other locations outside of Bolingbrook. The last few years we have taken teams to Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and the Baptist Childrens' Home in Illinois.

"When people say that they don't 'feel close to Jesus,' I ask them if they are making disciples. After all, his promise to be with us is directly tied to his command to make disciples. While every Christian wants to experience the power of the Holy Spirit, we often forget that the Spirit's power is given for the purpose of being his witnesses. Experiencing God, which is the longing of every true believer, happens when we are being his witnesses and making disciples." (Francis Chan)

Community Groups

Community Groups

We believe that God created us and gifted us for community. Our community groups are a way we try to develop and maintain real and meaningful community.

Our community groups help us to GROW in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We also recognize that diversity is a beautiful thing, so we have tried to offer a variety of community groups so that every one can find at least one that is a good fit. Each group is truly unique.

Our current community groups include: GENERAL community groups that center on different topics or biblical books. There are groups organized by GENDER because, let's face it, sometimes it's good to be with people who have the same chromosomes. And there are GENERATIONAL groups, organized by age.
